Virtualware set to attend Medica 2014

 

Virtualware will be attending Medica2014, the World Forum for Medicine, an event which is a global reference in the health technology sector, and where the latest technological advances in medicine will be shown by some of the most important companies in the field.

This year’s event once again takes place in the German city of Dusseldorf, between the 12th and 15th of November. The world’s largest and most international Medical event will have almost 4,600 exhibitors in nearly 116,000 square meters of space. Last year’s event had close to 140,000 visitors from 120 different countries taking part.

Virtualware will join 60 other Spanish medical supply and technologies companies together with the Spanish Federation of Healthcare Technology (FENIN) and supported by ICEX, the Spanish Export and Investment Department that promotes the internationalization of Spanish firms.

Virtualware will be presenting VirtualRehab, its clinically validated and CE certified product for rehabilitation that is directed to clinics, hospitals and healthcare centres to help treat patients with some degree of physical or neurological disability. The combination of customizable video games using the Microsoft Kinect motion capture technology, coupled with the secure Windows Azure Cloud platform, allows patients to perform complex rehabilitation exercises through engaging games, while allowing physiotherapists to create and track the therapy sessions from anywhere in the world through the telerehabilitation capacity of the system.

Currently VirtualRehab already has distributors around the world, including in Russia, Poland, Romania, Japan, China, Singapore, the UAE, Colombia as well as it being sold in the countries where Virtualware has offices. Some key installations include the internationally recognized National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery (NHNN) Queen Square in London, part of University College London Hospitals NHS Trust, as well as the hospital in Moscow.

Up to this date, VirtualRehab has been used internationally for 9,100 sessions of therapy with 920 hours of game play by patients who have suffer from various types Neurodegenerative diseases, as well as Neuromuscular and Neurovascular disorders including Stroke, Mulitple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Acquired Brain Damage, Distrophies, Alzheimer’s and even to help improve and maintain mobility levels in the elderly.
