Cable and Wireless and the INMFR of Panama introduce a new model of virtual rehabilitation
Cable & Wireless Panama, a leader in providing telecommunications services and connectivity in Panama, and Virtualware, a company who specializes in the development of immersive and interactive technologies, have signed an agreement for the installation of VirtualRehab in various locations in Panama. The deal includes the licensing, installation, and training of health personnel from the National Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (INMFR) in Panama and Reintegra Centers located in Penonomé, Villa de los Santos and Santiago, which will use VirtualRehab to assist in physical rehabilitation of patients with varying degrees of physical disabilities.
As part of the activities and support for project Teleton 20-30, aimed at groups at risk of social exclusion in Panama, Cable & Wireless Panama intends to build a new rehabilitation model through the use of cutting-edge technologies and Cloud services. With this goal, Cable & Wireless donated to the INMFR and various Reintegra Centers located in the Republic of Panama VirtualRehab licenses for rehabilitation and telerehabilitation of their patients, along with various teleconferencing systems, infrastructure, data transmission systems and multiple.
VirtualRehab is a clinically validated rehabilitation platform aimed at clinics, hospitals and health centers to assist in the rehabilitation of patients with physical disabilities. Based on the Kinect and Leap Motion motion capture technologies combined with gamification, the system allows patients to perform tasks and exercises in an engaging and entertaining way and allows the therapists to monitor and track patient sessions from anywhere in the world through the telerehabilitation module.
The organization INMFR, is the only public Panamanian institution that offers comprehensive rehabilitation nationwide for patients with severe and chronic disabilities.
The incorporation of VirtualRehab is part of the corporate mission of C & W Panama Teleton 20-30. With this partnership, C & W Panama and Virtualware aim to provide tools and technology solutions that improve comprehensive care for people with disabilities in the country.
The operation was carried out by Virtualware Chile, which is leading the efforts of the company to promote VirtualRehab in the Latin American market. Virtualware Chile has already successfully worked with clients like Teleton Chile, Microsoft Costa Rica, or the Purranque Health Center in Chile and Pilares de Rosario in Argentina among others
